42F (King's Lynn) Squadron Information

42F King's Lynn Squadron is an active squadron in Norfolk and Suffolk wing.
There are 6 wings, including Norfolk and Suffolk Wing, that make up Central and Eastern Region.
The squadron has approximately 50 cadets split between 2 flights.
Each flight has some NCO's that are the cadets primary contact between themselves and the staff. Each flight has a flight commander, who reports via the rank structure to the Senior NCO's who then interacts with the staff, assisting at a higher level than expected of junior NCO's due to their increased experience and skills.
Air Training Corps

The Air Cadet Organisation (ACO) is a national youth organisation for young men and women aged 13-20. It comprises of four sections - The Air Training Corps (ATC), the Combined Cadet Force (RAF), Air Cadet Central Gliding School (ACCGS) and the Volunteer Gliding Squadrons (VGS's).
The ATC has nearly 1000 squadrons divided into 36 wings which are then split into 6 regions.

ACO Vision
To ensure the ACO continues to flourish and to remain true to the ideals laid down in its Royal Warrant, especially with the provision of adequate aviation and other challenging activities to enable it to attract and retain membership and thereby provide example and leadership for today's youth.

To be a modern, dynamic, sustainable air-minded youth organisation of choice that offers fun and challenging opportunities.
Aims
The aims of the ACO are clear, demonstrating the ideals of producing enthusiastic and thoughtful young men and women who will strive to achieve in whatever walk of life they choose -
To promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the RAF

To provide training which will be useful in both the services and in civilian life and to;

To foster the sprit of adventure and to develop the qualities of leadership and citizenship.

42F King's Lynn Squadron currently has approximately 30 cadets and 2 Volunteer uniform staff, as well as 3
Civilian Instructors and two service staff helpers from RAF Marham.
​
As well as the cadet training that happens at 42F, the squadron also takes part in numerous events in the community. These range from charity work, parades and Civic Events , to assisting at the Sandringham Flower show and Stradsett RallyThe squadron also organises several trips during the year including the visiting of war graves in France and Belgium which many cadets find emotional.The other visits include visiting Museums, RAF Stations and trips to Scotland to watch the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.Adventure training expeditions overseas and the opportunity to go to different parts of the country on an RAF Summer Camp also add to the many experiences that being a member of the squadron can offer.
